An Important week for the Supreme Court

Traditionally, when the Supreme Court agrees to hear a case, they are agreeing that there is some critical issue that the lower court “may have” gotten wrong…or at least it is worthy of open discussion. Most cases that the Supreme Court agrees to hear are given 2 hours for presentation of arguments. Little things often spark a larger meaning or deeper thought with me. The other day I noted in a small news article that rapidly faded to obscurity that for the first time in 70 years the Pearl Harbor Survivors would not be meeting Hawaii. For anyone who does not pay attention to the news, Steve Jobs passed away recently after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer. I never personally met the man, but I feel the loss. The other night, after having far too nice a dinner, I awoke at 2:00 AM with a serious case of heartburn. I love going for beer and a burger with friends, but this is almost always the outcome. At 3:37 p.m. on Thursday the 8th, I was sitting at my computer pounding out code. With a sudden little popping noise the lights, my computer, and my last 20 minutes of work all went dark. Power outages are not new to me; we seem to have one once a year at work that lasts for 20 minutes to an hour.
