Doing the math on energy

So I have been doing some reading and math with respect to a "carbon footprint". If the goal is to reduce the amount of carbon being expelled into the atmosphere, then we need a real goal....say 50% reduction. Switching from 160HP gas burning cars to 75HP plug-in electric cars is not actually a savings. In the U.S. we produce the majority of our electricity from either coal or natural gas. California’s water shortage

So I should begin with some clarity. I believe that the state of California is in the midst of a dire water shortage. There is no great mystery in determining this. I am not a water expert, but the rules are pretty simple. Let’s move past Hybrid cars

I am sure this will offend someone, but hybrid car technology in its current implementation just doesn’t work for me. It is true that modern hybrid automotive technology is cool stuff from a technical side. We are barraged on a daily basis with so much data about Global Warming (GM). I don’t dispute that GM is real. We have obviously just concluded 120 years of industrial consumption of the worlds resources with little regard until recently for what the outcome could or would be.
